Careers

At Fern House School we believe that access to Careers Education and Guidance is critical to successful progression pathways.
The aim of Careers Education at Fern House School is to inform our pupils about their future employment opportunities and also prepare them with the skills necessary to gain entry into their chosen field. All pupils, whatever their needs or background will know the options open to them to fulfil their potential.
Careers Education and Guidance is promoted through class learning supported by work related activities and work experience opportunities. All KS4 students take part in work experience, allowing students to gain valuable insight into the workplace.

The School will assess the impact of its careers programmes on students by completing an annual Careers Programme Evaluation and analysing destinations data in line with activities that they have taken part in at school.

In addition, the views of students, parents, teachers and employers will be surveyed after key events and work placements. e.g. Year 10/11 Work Experience, CV Week, Creative Careers week or National Apprenticeship Show.
