Musical Breakfast
At Fern House we understand the importance of improving our pupils' cultural capital. Every morning, for the first 15 minutes of the day, Musical breakfasts allow pupils to hear different musical genres from different time periods to increase their cultural capital.
One genre of music is taught to pupils each week to expose them to music they may not have heard before. During our Musical Breakfast, which can also help our pupils regulate, they will listen to one piece of music from that genre as well as viewing a Powerpoint with information and facts about the music being played. Pupils then have the chance to discuss and form opinions in class, as well as having the opportunity to discuss the music they have heard at home.
