  • Geography Curriculum:Understanding Our Place in a Changing World

At Fern House School, our Geography curriculum is designed to cultivate a secure understanding of pupils' place within their local community, progressively expanding their awareness to encompass their relationship with Britain and the wider world. This fundamental understanding of 'place' underpins all our topics, alongside a critical exploration of how environments shape human lives and the profound impact humans have on the natural world.

Central to our approach is the development of strong literacy and communication skills. We also provide ample opportunities for pupils to critically reflect on human motivations and behaviours in geographical contexts.

Our curriculum is structured around two engaging topics per year, carefully chosen to enhance pupils' comprehension of the modern world and the complex challenges they face. This fosters their development as responsible citizens, empowering them to make informed and articulate contributions to contemporary debates.
